What Gran Turismo 7 force feedback settings can I change?

The only force feedback wheel settings you can change in Gran Turismo 7 are the force feedback maximum torque and force feedback sensitivity. These adjust the overall strength of the force feedback and how sensitive it is to on-track effects.

Gran Turismo 7 offers a fantastic racing experience however you’re playing it. Whether that is using the PS5 DualSense controller or a racing wheel.

It may not offer the most realistic or hardcore racing sim experience, but it isn’t far off. GT7 occupies the middle ground between a racing sim like Assetto Corsa Competizione and Forza Motorsport. And that is fine by us, as it is an extremely fun game to play.

The levels of fun, realism and immersion are all increased when you start racing with a sim racing wheel. With a wheel and pedals, you get a much greater level of control in most situations, and you can really start to feel how your car is behaving with the road.

GT7 is compatible with a large number of sim racing wheels, (you can see the full Gran Turismo 7 wheel compatibility list here). And these include wheels from both Logitech and Thrustmaster.

Racing wheels such as the Logitech G923 and Thrustmaster T248 are fantastic budget racing wheels, which offer a lot of the fun of more expensive options, without the huge cost.

In this guide, I’m going to run through the best force feedback settings for a few of the most popular Logitech and Thrustmaster racing wheels.

How to change force feedback settings in Gran Turismo 7

The first important thing to note is that you can only change the force feedback settings of your racing wheel while racing. The only way to currently access these options is by pausing the action when you’re on track. From here, you can access your controller settings and make adjustments.

  • Step 1 – Pause the game while racing
  • Step 2 – Go to settings, then controller settings
  • Step 3 – Adjust your settings and then back out of the menu to save

Logitech G923

Below are the best force feedback settings for GT7 for the Logitech G923. These can also be used if you are racing with the slightly older G29 or G920.

Logitech G923

  • Quality design and build
  • Great wheel for a first time racer

Unlike when you race Gran Turismo 7 with a Fanatec racing wheel, there aren’t any settings to change on your wheel itself. Instead, the only force feedback settings you can change in Gran Turismo 7 are the force feedback maximum torque and force feedback sensitivity.

With all Logitech racing wheels, the perfect combination of settings is a maximum torque of 4 or 5 and a sensitivity of 4. The Logitech G923 that we have raced GT7 with suffered from the feeling of looseness, and felt slightly disconnected from the car.

However, increasing these settings only proceeded to introduce excess force feedback and force feedback clipping. Any value over 5 for the max torque setting introduced clipping with the Logitech G923.

In-game settings

Assist Settings:

  • Countersteering Assistance: Off

Controller Settings:

  • Force Feedback Max. Torque: 4
  • Force Feedback Sensitivity: 4

Logitech Pro Racing Wheel

Logitech Pro Racing Wheel

  • 11Nm direct drive racing wheel
  • Quick release & magnetic shifters

Read our detailed guide on the best Gran Turismo 7 settings for the Logitech Pro Racing Wheel.

In that guide, we run through how to set up your Pro Racing Wheel to work perfectly with Gran Turismo 7. And we’ll show you the best force feedback settings for both the Logitech Pro Racing Wheel and in-game GT7 settings.

Thrustmaster T248

Best Gran Turismo 7 Force Feedback Settings: Logitech + Thrustmaster (7)

Thrustmaster T248

  • Good performance for the price
  • Built in screen

The Thrustmaster T248 doesn’t suffer from the same disconnect that the Logitech G923 does initially. This allows us to turn down the settings a little more. Again, anything over 4 or 5 introduces clipping issues with the force feedback.

It seems the sweet spot for most wheels sits at around 4-5 max torque and a lower sensitivity setting.

In-game settings

Assist Settings:

  • Countersteering Assistance: Off

Controller Settings:

  • Force Feedback Max. Torque: 4
  • Force Feedback Sensitivity: 2

Thrustmaster T128

Thrustmaster’s T128 is the company’s newest entry-level racing wheel. It makes a compelling case for being one of the best budget racing wheels in 2023.

Being such an underpowered racing wheel, we have compensated by increasing a couple of the settings in Gran Turismo 7.

In-game settings

Assist Settings:

  • Countersteering Assistance: Off

Controller Settings:

  • Force Feedback Max. Torque: 5
  • Force Feedback Sensitivity: 3

Thrustmaster T150RS, T300RS, T500RS

Best Gran Turismo 7 Force Feedback Settings: Logitech + Thrustmaster (8)

Thrustmaster T300 RS

  • One of the best mid level wheel
  • Compatibility across all platforms

Below are the recommended settings for the Thrustmaster T150RS, T300RS and T500 RS and equivalent wheels such as the TMX and TX racing wheels. For all of these racing wheels, I have run the same settings that were used for the T248.

In-game settings

Assist Settings:

  • Countersteering Assistance: Off

Controller Settings:

  • Force Feedback Max. Torque: 4
  • Force Feedback Sensitivity: 2

Thrustmaster TS-PC, TS-XW, T-GT II

For the more powerful servo Thrustmaster racing wheels, we can run slightly adjusted force feedback settings. These are a little more toned down than the settings suggested for the T300RS and other racing wheels in that category.

In-game settings

Assist Settings:

  • Countersteering Assistance: Off

Controller Settings:

  • Force Feedback Max. Torque: 4
  • Force Feedback Sensitivity: 1
