Simulation of red blood cell deformation in shear flow with a viscoelastic membrane modelSpectral boundary integral method for red blood cell membrane mechanics using a viscoelastic membrane model, which incorporates the in-plane shear, dilatation, and bending stresses as well as the in-plane viscous stress. You can find the codebase for this simulation on GitHub: https://lnkd.in/etSZG2dgAuthor: Ali GürbüzEnjoy!#opensource #cfd #multiphaseflow #technology #sciencenews

#oraldiadochokinesis#alternatingmotionrate#sequencingmotionrate#ddk#amr #smr Resource-Articulatory Kinematics of Alternating and Sequential Motion Rate DiadochokinesisJeff Berry, Ph.D., CCC-SLPScott Palahniuk, B.S.Emily Isaksson, M.S., CFY-SLPMarki Romenesko, M.S., CCC-SLPOral Diadochokinesis (DDK) tasks are commonly used in the assessment of speech motor function. Two forms of DDK are typically used clinically. Alternating motion rates (AMR) require the talker to produce repetitions of the same syllable. Sequential motion rates (SMR) require the talker to produce repetitions of a sequence of syllables. Tongue, lip, and jaw movements were compared between AMR and SMR tasks elicited from 15 healthy, young-adult subjects and registered using electromagnetic articulography. Results suggest that the tongue often exhibits greater speed and extent of motion during SMR than AMR, but that the lower lip often exhibits greater speed and extent during AMR than SMR.

This video, recorded with the FusionScope® Scanning Electron Microscope, provides a unique glimpse into the visualization of a Magnetic Force Microscopy (#MFM) measurement. MFM involves quantifying the magnetic forces exerted on a magnetized tip by analyzing the amplitude and phase of the cantilever signals in lift-mode. It serves as an excellent educational resource for introducing students in an #AFM class to this particular technique!Learn how you can take advantageof the power of #correlativemicroscopy with the FusionScope by visiting fusionscope.com.
